New Jot Developer Video: Introducing the JotSpot Storage Model and API

Version 1, changed by ScottMcmullan. 10/04/2006.   Show version history

I just posted the latest installment in a series of e-Learning tutorials: JotDataModelApiVideoTutorial.

This tutorial is intended for folks with existing development skills who are new to JotSpot, and covers much of the material I typically feature in my Jot Dev 101 webinar.

I think I've improved the format and overall quality from my intial JotSpot Ant Tools tutorial. As always, I welcome (no, need) feedback, either as a comment here, on the video tutorial page, or via email: scott at jot.com.

Nice, again.

Quibbles:
1. "Storage model" is a bit strange, makes me think of one of these storage services. "Data structures" or "data model" or something like that would be more interesting.
2. Lot more plosive pops than the last one, if I remember correctly. No big deal, but you might work on your mike technique or placement or something.

Thanks for the suggestions Bob. I do like the term "data model", but not "data structure" -- that seems too low level. I chose storage model because I wanted to capture the highest level concept that seemed to fit. I'll consider switching to data model -- any prefs from other folks?

I did hear a few "pops", but on my playback (laptop speakers), they didn't seem too bad. I'll use headphones in the future, and watch out for this. Hope it didn't make your ears ring!

I'm having trouble playing the video. First time around I got the audio without video. Now I can't get audio or video.

It works for me fine in both firefox 1.5 and IE 6. Very odd.

Well, I viewed source, found the path, and watched the .swf directly without the html fluff and it works fine. It was very good. Good job!

Sneak Peak. One of those words is misspelled. Unless you mean to sneak up on the mountain peak.
And on slide 6 you have the same word twice: single place place.
