Tired of inviting everyone to your wiki by hand?
Want to let folks securely sign up for their own account on your wiki?
If so, we've got something for you. The new self registration app, donated to the community by the good folks at Chordiant Software, lets you do just that. I'd like to personally thank them for this, as well as give a special shout out to Bob Haugen for his efforts as well...
Here's how it works. Download and install the app. Once installed, send an email to support at jot.com with a request to sign the app page. Becuase the app creates new users without opening up guest access to your wiki, one of the pages needs a digital signature to guarantee it doesn't get tampered with. The app won't work without the signature, and right now we have to do the signing for you.
Once installed and signed, you'll have a new public signup page at http://yourwiki.jot.com/System/Pages/SignUp that looks like:
Folks enter email address, click the special link in the email that gets sent, and then complete a profile:
That's it! The user now has a new account on the wiki.
Please note this is a community-contributed and thus community-supported app. If you encounter issues or have feature requests, you are free to modify the app yourself, or you can always enlist the help of one of our Solution Partners.
Thanks again Chordiant!
